  • How do I know if I'm eligible for a Cosmetic Brow Tattoo?
You are suitable for this treatment as long as you: Are not pregnant or breastfeeding (if you are breastfeeding we advise you express and dispose of your milk for 24 hours after your treatment) Do not have high/low blood pressure or are on any blood thinning medication (you will be required to provide a letter from your doctor to give you the go ahead for this treatment) Are not prone to keloid scarring
  • How long does it last and when do I need a colour boost?
Cosmetic tattoo eyebrows can last anywhere between 12-24 months before needed a colour boost. We recommend checking in with us after the 12 month mark by sending us photos to see if you require a colour boost. If you leave your first colour boost for longer than 2 years - you will have to pay the full price again. If you have already had a yearly colour boost - you will likely get another 2 years out of your tattoo before it needs refreshing.
  • What happens during my appointment?
Firstly we start off with a consult where we will have you fill out a digital form, this is to ensure you have no underlying medical issues that may effect this treatment and the healing process. Note this treatment is not to be taken lightly, though we use pigment that is designed to fade over time, this colour can still show in the brows for years to come. From there Abbey will discuss your eyebrow goals with you, any concerns you may have and any adjustments you’d like to make to your natural brows. The technique that is performed on you (ombré, powder, feather touch) will be picked based on your brow goals, lifestyle and skin type and Abbey will inform you of any pros and cons to each technique. Colour is chosen based on your natural hair and skin tone and all colours are custom mixed for each client. We then begin with a brow map, brow mapping allows Abbey to draw a set of eyebrows on your face taking in to account your natural face shape, facial features and your current eyebrows, no two brows are the same and every client will leave with a different set of brows. Each brow tattoo is completely custom to our clients face shape. Once the mapping process is finished, you will then approve the shape and Abbey will begin the treatment. Please note that Abbey will apply her own anaesthetic throughout the procedure to keep you as pain free as possible as this treatment should not be uncomfortable at all. Please keep your brows as natural as possible before the treatment, Abbey will shape your brows with wax and tweezing once the mapping process has been completed.
  • What can I expect after my appointment?
Abbey will take you through your aftercare process once the treatment is completed. The first 2 weeks are the most vital to ensure the best healed results for your tattoo though these results are ongoing for up to. Typically around day 2-3 your brows will begin to scab, this will be like flaking skin coming off the brow. Once your brows have completely scabbed over (roughly day 4), you can expect them to look like a solid dark block of colour, this can come as a shock when chunks of this scab begin to flake off as the skin under the brow can look extremely light in colour. This is because the skin underneath is shedding the dead skin cells and can give a frosted effect to the freshly tattooed brow underneath. Once this scabbing phase has completed, you can expect to see full colour results 2-3 weeks after. Don't be concerned about your brows if the colour is very light once healed, this is completely normal. Your 6 week touch up appointment will be booked for you by Abbey after your appointment. Your touch up session is vital for enhancing the initial tattoo. Cosmetic Tattooing is a two step process so your touch up appointment is absolutely necessary to achieve your final result, some clients may need a third touch up appointment to achieve desired results, this is completely normal. There are 4 factors to take in to account that will effect the final results of how your brows heal, the first factor is the initial treatment, though this seems like the most important factor, Abbey can only do so much to ensure your brows heal to a desirable result. The second factor is skin type, every person has different skin type whether that be dry, oily, combination, normal, thick or thin skin, these differences will impact your healing results, oily skin tends to push the pigment out faster. The third factor is lifestyle, are you an active person? Are you in the sun often? Do you swim a lot? These are all factors that will hinder results, we suggest you wear SPF daily on your face including your brows, sweating often also causes your tattoo to fade quicker - we realise this can be unavoidable for some people however this will be a contributing factor. The fourth factor is any medications/health conditions you may have. It is important to remember that every person heals differently, in some rare cases skin will not accept the pigment and your brow tattoo won't hold. We cannot guarantee the healing results for any client, this is a potential risk that is taken on by the client when accepting to have the treatment done. If your brows fade or blur quickly, this is a result of your skin type and lifestyle, not the technician or technique used. It is also important to remember that Cosmetic Tattooing is low maintenance not NO maintenance, this means if you have lighter brow hairs to the colour chosen for your tattoo, you will still need to tint your brows. You will also need to continue to shape your brows with wax/tweezing after the treatment to maintain the shape of the tattooed brow, though this is made easy with the guide of the tattoo. Note that the purpose of a brow tattoo is to leave a nice tint behind the brow, the depth of colour you leave with on the day of your appointment is not a realistic result and we will never be able to achieve that level of colour permanently.
  • Should I shape my eyebrows before my appointment?
Definitely not! We love to see your full eyebrow shape - we're not here to judge! We prefer to work with your natural shape to ensure we're creating a brow tattoo that's as low maintenance as possible for you, though you may still need to have brow shapes done after your tattoo is healed to ensure your brow tattoo looks fresh all the time.
  • Will I still need to get my eyebrows tinted after tattooing?
Potentially, yes! If you brow hair colour is lighter than the tattoo colour, you may still prefer to have your brows tinted after having them tattooed (please allow 6 weeks until your brows are fully healed before having them tinted and shaped). We find having a brow shape and tint is also a great way to freshen up your brow tattoo, remember having a cosmetic tattoo means your brows become LOW maintenance not NO maintenance.
  • Do you tattoo over previously tattooed brows done elsewhere?
Yes, but please understand there are variables as to how your brows will heal as a final result due to previous pigment in the brows. This is because we are unsure of which brand of pigments were used previously, your skin condition in the brows is already compromised and your brows will require colour correcting first. As of Jan 2023 the pricing for a new client that needs a brow refresh is $450 for your first session and $150 for your second session. your second session is compulsory and we will not confirm any appointment until we have received an email with clear images of your current brows, this allows us to confirm whether we are able to work over your brows or not. In some cases we may refer you for laser removal first, this is because some brows are so heavily saturated in colour and they won't fade enough for us to work over them for years to come. ***We won't do cover ups on any work we don't think we can improve*** Pricing is subject to change and will be displayed correctly on our booking site at all times.
  • Does an eyebrow cosmetic tattoo hurt?
In our pre care instructions that are emailed to you before your appointment, we request that you purchase emla numbing cream from the pharmacy. This is placed on the brows for one hour before your appointment to ensure you're comfortable when your treatment begins. At the beginning of your treatment you'll feel a slight scratching discomfort, and once we apply our secondary anaesthetic you won't feel a thing. Majority of our clients enjoy the quiet time and end up asleep!
  • I don't know which option is best for me?
That's okay! Leave it to us - you're welcome to select any technique at your time of booking and we can chat about the process and cons of each style on the day during your full consultation. Just be sure to leave a comment in the notes section when you're booking.

  • Am I eligible for this treatment?
You are suitable for this treatment as long as you: Are not pregnant or breastfeeding (if you are breastfeeding we advise you express and dispose of your milk for 24 hours after your treatment) Do not have high/low blood pressure or are on any blood thinning medication (you will be required to provide a letter from your doctor to give you the go ahead for this treatment) Are not prone to keloid scarring Are not prone to cold sores (if you are prone to cold sores, an antiviral medication prescribed from your doctor must be taken before and after treatment along side a lysine supplement to prevent any breakouts during the healing process)
  • What happens during my appointment?
Firstly we start off with a consult where we will have you fill out a digital form, this is to ensure you have no underlying medical issues that may effect this treatment and the healing process. Note this treatment is not to be taken lightly, though we use pigment that is designed to fade over time, this colour can still show in the lips for years to come. From there we discuss what your concerns and goals are with your lips, if you’re wanting to make any adjustments to your lips (providing this is done within the vermillion border), what shade of colour your wanting to achieve and what technique will best suit your lifestyle and lip goals. All colours are custom mixed for each client to achieve the perfect shade. Please feel free to bring in some photos or swatches of your favourite lippy shade. Abbey will apply some numbing, this ensures you’re comfortable for the start of the procedure, once this is finished Abbey will begin to map your lips to get the perfect shape for you. Remember that Abbey will stay within the natural border of your lip line as extending this will cause the lips to heal different colours. Once your mapping is complete, Abbey will give you the chance to look at your shape and approve. After the shape is approved by the client, the treatment begins. You should feel very little discomfort from this treatment as Abbey applies a secondary numbing throughout the treatment.
  • Does Lip cosmetic tattooing hurt?
Although we pre numb you before your treatment and secondary numb you during, you will still feel a slight discomfort during the tattoo. This is because the lips - as apposed to brows - have 1000s of little nerves inside, that combined with thinner skin on the lips, means you'll feel it a little bit more. That being said, we've never had a client find the treatment too painful to go ahead with.
  • How long does it last?
Lip tattooing can last anywhere between 2-5 years, we recommend a colour boost at 2 years if you're wanting to maintain a bolder/defined look.
  • I don't know which style tattoo is best for me?
That's okay! Just book in for either Lip Blush or Lip line and blend and we can chat to you about the pros and cons of each style on the day during your full consultation.
  • What's the difference between tint & stain?
A tint will stain the skin for up to 7 days - A stain stays on the skin for up to 10 days A tint will stain the hairs for 3-4 weeks - A stain will stain the hair for up to 6 weeks A tint gives the illusion of a fuller brow - a stain provides a powerful stain on the skin and hairs
